My training was done in various clinics ranging from Pediatrics, OB/ Gyn, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, & Orthopedic Surgery
Mr. Contreras was born in McAllen, Texas and was raised in Mission and Edinburg, Texas. He graduated from Edinburg High School and shortly after entered the U.S. Navy where he trained as a Hospital corpsman from 1973 to 1977. He and his wife, Cynthia, who is his one and only, have been married for 44 years. They have been blessed with two sons, Daniel and Ray Adam, of whom they are very proud.
Mr. Contreras attends El Buen Pastor church in Edinburg. He is currently a member of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and also of the American Association of Physician Assistants.
Mr. Contreras is very passionate about music and is currently a member of the McAllen Wind Ensemble as a French hornist. He also enjoys building and maintaining hot rods and motorcycles. Spending time with his family & fishing are also high on his free time list.
Why did I become a Physician Assistant:
My interest in medicine began during my corpsman years and grew stronger as my studies continued. Relating respectfully to people and helping solve their health issues to the best of my ability is always my priority. I look forward to work and serve in this community.
