I received clinical experience during my rotations in various clinics ranging in pediatrics, family medicine, and OB/Gyn.
I was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. My parents were migrant workers that traveled to Washington state for work during my early childhood years. They are the reason for which I decided to pursue a career in the medical field. They taught me the meaning of hard work and perseverance. I have three older siblings and one younger brother who is in the U.S. Air Force. My seven nieces and nephews are my “kiddos”, which I love to spend time with and spoil. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends as often as I can.
I attend The Family Church in McAllen where I have served in the children’s and media ministry. I am a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Texas Nurse Practitioners.
I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, swimming, cycling and running. I love doing those activities even more with family and friends. When not spending time outside, I like watching all kinds of movies (except horror films, too scary for me) and detective and sci-fi television shows. I also enjoy reading, listening to music and learning to play the guitar.
Why did I become a Nurse Practitioner:
Although I knew from the beginning of my nursing career that I would eventually become a nurse practitioner, I didn’t really know the reasoning behind my decision until now. After eight years of caring for patients in the hospital setting as a registered nurse and helping care for my aging parents, I realized how great a role a primary care provider plays in a patient’s life. As a nurse practitioner, I am able to provide education and care to prevent health problems and promote wellness to better serve my community.
