What is the difference between BOTOX® and Volbella XC Filler?
Botox and dermal fillers are cosmetic treatments given through injections, usually in a doctor's
office. They are minimally invasive, meaning they do not involve surgery. That is where their
similarities end, however. Botox and dermal filler treatments are popular, accounting for more
than 9 million procedures in 2015, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
Botox contains purified bacteria that freeze muscles. In doing so, Botox can help minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles caused by facial expressions.
Dermal fillers contain ingredients that add fullness to areas that have thinned due to aging. This thinning is common in the cheeks, lips, and around the mouth.
People should be aware of the costs and risks of treatments and have realistic expectations of what they can do.
Filler available with Juvederm Volbella XC
- Adds subtle volume to lips
- Softens the appearance of vertical lip lines
- Is the first and only filler proven to last up to 1 year for lips and vertical lip lines.
Are BOTOX and fillers painful?
But most fillers are viscous so when they are injected they stretch the skin causing injection pain. The good news is that the FDA has just approved hyaluronic acid fillers containing lidocaine. Studies showed that patients injected with these fillers had significantly less injection pain during the procedure.
When will I see results with BOTOX and fillers?
Most patients begin to notice an effect three to five days after their injections, with full results becoming visible after 14 days. When injected for cosmetic purposes, Botox lasts four to six months on average, but you can expect the effects of your first treatment to wear off faster.
